How it all began

An experience.
A different perspective.

One Journey Foundation began with a shared belief: meaningful change doesn’t always require extraordinary beginnings. Sometimes, it starts with an experience that changes the way you see the world.

For us, that belief grew through travelling, experiencing nature firsthand and developing a deeper appreciation for the animals and ecosystems that share our planet.

During a trip near Cabo, Baja California Sur, Mexico, we spotted a whale through a drone, entangled in fishing equipment. Seeing such an extraordinary animal affected by human activity was difficult to forget. That encounter eventually inspired the Foundation’s first conservation project.

On another trip, while surfing in Tofino, Vancouver Island, we were mesmerized by the enormous ancient trees surrounding us. Conversations with friends about old-growth logging and its consequences for wildlife revealed another environmental challenge that deserved attention.

These experiences reinforced something we had come to believe: nature is deeply interconnected, and protecting one part of an ecosystem can have consequences far beyond what we immediately see.

That belief became One Journey Foundation.

Meet the Founders

Different experiences.
A shared purpose.

Oneil Boulay

Co-founder & Executive Director

Project management. Financial oversight. Team coordination. Turning ideas into plans.

With a background in project management, construction, business and financial services, Oneil brings extensive experience in leading complex projects, managing financial resources, coordinating teams and transforming ambitious ideas into actionable plans.

Throughout his career, he has worked across large-scale construction and infrastructure projects, developing a practical understanding of planning, accountability and the importance of delivering measurable results.

Through One Journey Foundation, Oneil is applying this experience to a different kind of challenge: building an organization that turns concern for animals and the environment into meaningful conservation initiatives.

His vision is to make environmental action accessible, engaging and capable of creating lasting change. That means bringing clear plans, careful budgets and accountable delivery to the work the Foundation will undertake.

Claudia Dargis

Co-founder & Director

Psychology. Business. Research. Understanding how people create change.

Claudia brings a multidisciplinary background in psychology, business, research and human behaviour.

She holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, alongside undergraduate degrees in psychology and business and organizational studies from Western University.

As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and founder of One Journey Therapy, her private psychotherapy and coaching practice, Claudia has dedicated her professional work to understanding human behaviour and helping individuals create meaningful change.

Her academic interests also extend to environmental sustainability. In 2025, she co-authored “Do Excuses Matter? Dispositions, Justifications, and Pro-environmental Behavior,” published in the book “Thwarting Green Growth: Perspectives on Barriers to Pro-Environmental Behaviors.”

The research explores psychological factors that can prevent people from acting on their environmental values, an issue closely connected to One Journey Foundation’s mission. Claudia brings this understanding, together with her research background and experience helping people navigate change, to the Foundation’s approach to education, awareness and environmental action.

The chapter is listed among Claudia’s research publications.

What drives us

Care should feel
possible.

We believe caring about the planet should feel natural, accessible and inspiring. Not everyone has the time, resources or expertise to lead conservation efforts. But everyone should have the opportunity to contribute.

That’s why we’re building One Journey Foundation around meaningful projects, compelling storytelling and collaboration. We aim to work with organizations already making a difference, while developing our own carefully considered initiatives.

Our four purposes connect protecting nature and biodiversity, preventing and reducing pollution, improving animal well-being and promoting sustainable food choices, including plant-based and other lower-impact choices.

We recognize that these challenges are complex and that meaningful solutions must also consider the communities and livelihoods connected to them.

We don’t claim to have all the answers. But we believe that small actions, when connected by a shared purpose, can contribute to something much greater.

Where we’re going

A journey
worth sharing.

Our ambition is to build One Journey Foundation into a recognizable, trusted organization that connects people with causes worth protecting.

Each project will have its own story, purpose and approach, while contributing to a larger shared vision. We want to make caring about the planet something people feel inspired to be part of.

Big change often starts
with something small.
